Now Irregular Choice is releasing a second line in partnership with Disney that takes inspiration from the classic animated movie Alice in Wonderland . It’s a whole different world that fits particularly well with the company’s style.Irregular Choice announced the upcoming limited-edition collecting in January, andas it did with the Star Wars linehas been releasing teaser images ever since. Dan Sullivan, Irregular Choice owner and main decorator, told the Daily Dot in an email interview that the company has received petitions from customers for an Alice in Wonderland line in the past.
” Alice does have an amazing cult following, but whilst not being as big as Star Wars around the world, we are confident in our fans desire for it and that of many other ladies whose hearts the narrative has touched, ” he said.
The collection will feature a mix of flats and heels indicating familiar characters like Alice, the Cheshire Cat, and the Mad Hatter as well as imagery and quotes from the original 1951 movie. Despite the collection’s release before Disney’s Alice Through the Looking on May 27, imagery from the live-action movies is not featured in the line.
“Disney wanted us to do the classic movie, and it is very important that you do not intersect reference between the movie/ volumes etc. We had to be true to the original film merely, ” Sullivan said.
Disney provided assets from the animated cinema for Irregular Choice to use.
“The most difficult part is that there is no leeway for fault or adapting if something doesn’t look perfect. Everything has to be exactly angled and proportioned as per Disney guidelines for that character, ” he said. “The best bit is that we have created shoes that wholly represent Alice in Wonderland correctly to exact specification and are a homage to the characters I was inspired by as a kid.”
The second collaboration between Disney and Irregular Choice giving us more official pop culture-inspired footwear for women. The heels especially are a welcome sight, considering few other licensed heels exist. Plus Irregular Choice generates such bold, colorful designs, they seem like a perfect fit for Disney. From their large character heels, bright colourings, and even a sun that flashes in the heel of the Cheshire Cat heels, the details on these shoes are as impressive as the Star Wars line, which according to Sullivan violated records for Irregular Choice and Disney women’s footwear.
“The exclusive collect was so in demand that on the morning of the launch we had huge queues of fans down the street at our flagship store on Carnaby Street, London, from 9am. We had fans all over the world scrambling to our international stockists to make sure they grabbed a piece of history, ” he told. “The collection sold out online within 24 hours of going on sale with only a few sizes left in our Chewbacca style.”
If the Alice in Wonderland collecting does nearly as well, who knows what Irregular Choice and Disney might partner up for next? There’s no term yet on any future cooperations, but when asked about more Disney lines all Sullivan would say is “watch this space.”You can see more photos of the Alice in Wonderland collect below. The prices on these intricate shoes will range from $184 and $381. A launch event on Feb. 26 in London will mark the release of the line, which will be available at select stores and on the company’s website.
