Being a mother is challenging, so it helps to have a sense of humor to get you through the days, which is exactly what novelist, cartoonist, and mother-of-two Adrienne Hedger does with the hilarious cartoons she creates.
Whether its preparing for a road journey, dealing with teens, or simply trying to prepare dinner, her comics perfectly sum up the comical scenarios that come with the territory of parenthood and actually, adulthood in general.
She had been doing cartoons her whole life for friends and family, but things took a professional turn in 2008, when her and a friend co-wrote three humor parenting volumes over the course of four years.
Then every Friday she takes all the ideas from the week and files them into a big Excel document with different tabs for different categories: My Children, Kids in General, Relationships, Pets, Life Stuff, etc.
I use a Wacom Cintiq drawing tablet and Photoshop, she said. In Photoshop you can work with layers, so Ill do all the sketching on one layer, then create a new layer to do the ink, then another layer for the color.
