Ocean-bound cargo has become less likely to go missing at sea, thanks to a rule on weight distribution. The number of sea-freight containers lost annually fell 48 percentage to 1,390 on average in the three years through 2016, following a requirement in July last year that all boxes be weighed before loading so they can be spread evenly across the vessel and minimize accidents, according to the World Shipping Council. About 130 million receptacles are loaded onto ships every year.
